This pair is a real enigma. I have tried all sorts of combinations of their names without success for the 1881 census.. Can some kind person have a try? Charlotte Smith b1860 and lived Rushmere St Andrew, Suffolk but missing from 1881 census. Daughter of Joseph and Jane Smith. I have her on 1861/71 as living Rushmere. She married George Adams at Rushmere 1883. Marriage cert states abode as Rushmere. George Adams born Ipswich 1858 to parents George and Mary Ann. !861/71 and 1891/1901 all Ipswich. Missing on 1881 census but have found a George Adams b Ipswich of right age at Gravesend, Kent RG11/0874/29/10. However when he married Charlotte he was a baker living in Framlingham, Suffolk . Anyone prepared to have a go for me? Kat

Hi Kat I merely offer these as comments. My granny was born and married in Norfolk and that is her abode on her marriage certificate. In fact, her home had been outside the county for some fifteen years before her marriage. Her mother in law, with a distinctive Devon accent, is shown as born and living in Portsmouth on the 1881 census. If you have the stamina, it might be worthwhile looking at all the Charlottes who are not daughters or wives and attempting to trace them back to 1871, though I don't envy you the task.

Hi Phoenix Yes I have done that. Put up Charlotte born Suffolk living anywhere.Took me ages. Suzanne cant think why I never noticed that the one above him was a baker and it's ...do... underneath for George. Must have been tired, just found it and found servant as relationship. Well spotted. Yes Charlotte was born, married and died in Suffolk as I say in my post. It will be a miracle if you find this one tho!! lol. Perhaps she was a servant in Gravesend too Kat

Yes Louise but as you see Charlotte is not there. I thought about that one, Suzanne. with it being Framlingham, but checked that one back and found that Charlotte living Framlingham when mine was in Rushmere, so not the one. The others I've not checked backwards but they are not near to Rushmere Kat
