There aren't any short cuts anywhere, nobody has transcribed this part of the index yet. You just have to look at the scanned page image for each quarter. It helps that it's a very rare name in England, and the spelling is unlikely to have changed after 1952 |

I do apologise Graham, I was scanning and thought you were looking for 1874 not 19. Im useless at looking up anything after 1920. Why dont you change the heading of your message, giving the date you think he died. You may attract some of the real super sleuths on here then, not the dopey ones like me! Still, do moan to familyrellies and do claim your 10 freebies! I see Nell has answered. Gawd, I do admire the tenacity of people on here. I couldnt even sit or stand that long with my sciatica! Brilliant Nell. |

Grahame Births, marriages and deaths after 1910 are very time-consuming to find. I understand that familyrelatives.org is the same as www.1837*com for the time frame you are searching - ie you have to check every quarter of every year one by one. If you wanted to save money you could find a library/records office near you that has the GRO death indexes on microfiche. But I once went through 142 heavy index books at the FRC looking for a marriage. I found it with 2 volumes to go!!! nell |

Thanks for quick reply. The information that I have is that he died between 1965 and 1975 and there are a lot of entries for those dates. When I search on the name with or without the middle one, I seem to be getting approximate matches rather than exact matches on the surname from familyrelatives.org. Hence I am using up quite a few credits without getting even my grandfathers exact surname. (a bit of a swizz?) Grahame |

Im surprised familyrellies didnt do the job. If you have the year, name and place it should have picked him up easily. Just a thought Graham, did you enter both first names on the search on there? If so, there seems to be a glitsch in their system (which I have moaned about to them) which gives zilcho results. You could have one more go using just one first name. Then email and moan at them as they have often given me freebies when I moan about losing units over their system not working. Have you already claimed 10 freebies? I dont know if it is still working but go to the site, click purchase units, put the code LC2005 in the top promo box on the right, click continue and click on 10 units. Hopefully its still working and you will get the 10 freebies. |

Hi, I am very much a newbie so forgive me if the question appears stupid. I am trying to find out tabout the death of my grandfather. JOHN JAMES MCKERRELL. He lived in London all his life and was born in Bethnal Green in 1874. He was married to EMMA WHITE in 1897 (she died in 1952 following the great smog) I have tried familyrelatives.org, but the search for this period is too vague and too many results for the amount of units that I have left. Is there anywhere I can search for this information? I am a member of ancestry.com and that has not found any entries for this event. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Grahame |
