A contact has just pointed out that he has access to my tree...... checked my contacts and found that half of them (chosen apparently at random!) can (suddenly!) view my tree - this was definitely not the case yesterday and I am very careful who views my tree! But, at the same time, I also have access to around 3 times the number of trees that I had permission to view yesterday! Any one else been caught like this??? Bev x

do you remember to untick the box when you send first message to any one? Jeanette

Yes Jeanette It took me a while to remember when the system first changed, but now I never forget, as I said, I'm careful who views my tree. And this has happened since yesterday, only sent one message since then! Bev x

Just me then ...... this site hates me!!! lol! Well I've messaged everyone whose trees I can suddenly view and I promise I haven't peeked at them ........... ok, I had a little (out of curiosity) peek at just one! That's not bad for an incredibly nosey person like myself. If I still have access to the trees tomorrow, I might be tempted further, you have been warned! Bev x

I noticed the other day that I have permission to view about 30 trees - I have never asked to, and most of them don't seem to be my contacts, either - is it something to do with Hot Matches, I wonder? Olde Crone

Hi Bev, I just checked My Tree Matches (new names added in the last 7 days). When I saw a new name the same as my maiden name, I clicked on the envelope alongside the match to see who the Genes member was that the email would go to in case I decided to contact them. Directly below the 'add message' box was that little tick box allowing that person to view my tree - and guess what - it was already ticked. I didn't want to send a message but presumably if I hadn't unticked the box they would have been able to see my tree???! I bet this is what happened to you. So everybody else - be warned - if you're looking at the new names list you could inadvertently be giving acces to your tree to any name you check out as a possible match. Hope this helps Brenda

but if you do forget to untick box just go to contacts and un click box there. I have just noticed I have got quite a few tree's to look at that where people have forgotten to take tick out. Jeanette

Thank you for adding this topic. Also have had weird things happen in the past.... I went straight to my permissions to check and thank goodness they were OK. Also GR seems to play with which surname is sent.... It seems to alternate between my maiden and married surnames..... I have noticed on my contact list that this seems to be the case with others as well..... I have also had weird requests to view that seem to have popped up from nowhere...see other thread by Sue of Surrey...... Glitches need to be reported ASAP...even if u do not get a reply..... Attention will be paid to trends and frequency........I hope! Great to tell each other, too so we know it is not 'just me', etc !!!!!! Cheers Susan Clarke Haskell

Today I have gained another two trees to look at, lucky me!!!! Again, these are the trees of contacts that I haven't messaged, (nor have they messaged me) for months! Bev x
