Found him as a young boy in 1881, with a brother and widowed mother working as a fish hawker. In 1891 I found her working as a butcher, with an acquired adopted daughter, niece & husband, visitor and her poor son gets listed last, as a servant!!! Margaret Thomas head widow 49 butcher Penclawdd Mary Lizzie Francis adopted daughter 12 scholar Penclawdd Sarah A Jones [mar? looks like np] niece 20 no occupation listed Penclawdd Lewis Jones nephew-in-law 21 wool/woodman in tin works Neath Annie Edwards visitor single 24 dress/bread {?]maker Swansea John Thomas 17 servant [I think this is her son!} Est birth year: abt 1874 butcher's servant Penclawdd RG12/4489 Folio: 77 Page: 3 nell |
