The Times online has 'William Batty, 27, labourer, of Bradford, was hanged at Armley Gaol, Leeds, yesterday, for the murder of Samuel H. Gray, a soldier, also of Bradford, who was shot on his own doorstep four days after his return from Burma'. Times Weds Jan 9th 1946, p.2 As you have the date of the trial, you can probably get a more detailed description of it from the local Leeds newspapers. If you e-mail Leeds Library they can probably supply a photocopy for a small fee. nell |
