I've finally found the death of my Gt.Grandfather. He died in Wellhouse Lane, Barnet, in 1935. Can anyone advise me on the cemeteries in that area at the period in time? Many thanks, M. Steer |

I imagine you can find a list of cemeteries from the relevant council webpage. Bear in mind that a) he might at that date have been cremated, not buried and b) people didn't necessarily get buried where they died. My gt grandfather died in Finchley, but was taken back for burial to the Norfolk village churchyard where his wife was buried 9 years earlier. nell |

Thanks Nell, I tried the relevant council web site - there seems to be only one cemetery but there is a burial ground close to where Gt.Grandpa died but I couldn't discern whether or not it was still in use in 1935. Will have to contact the council. I don't think he would have been 'sent home' to Cambridgeshire - I doubt that the family could have afforded it - but you never know! I don't know, just yet, what happened to Gt.Grandma but I think I'm very close. M. Steer |

Islington Cemetery forms part of Finchley cemetery. I was up there last weekend visiting my nan and grandads grave. They are buried in St Pancras ground there. It really is a huge cemetery so would probably be a good starting point for you. Jan |

I have the email address for the cemetary that covers Islington and St Pancras. A gentlemen there replied within less than 24hrs a couple of months ago when I was looking for my grandmothers grave. I can't seem to get it on here though, so have sent you a PM hopefully they will be able to help |

Thankyou Janette and Little Caz (especially for the e-mail address). Once the 'silly season' is over and things get back to normal I'll be able to make enquiries. M. Steer |
