Can somebody trace an Edith Cummerford for me please? Various spellings of name but soundex picks them up. I have her as a boarder in 1881, she's a widower then. Can somebody go backwards with her. She was born c1817. Thanks.

I think she's the mother of my Joseph Comerford born c1852. Don't know about any others. Jess - because I was putting in Comerford - nothing - changed it to soundex and bingo!

Get one of the kids birth certs for her name. All this lot were on freebmd - do you use that? I havent time to check if they are yours - - perhaps you could go and look for the later/earlier ones. How is you do that? I was just getting really frustrated on Ancestry cause I couldn't find any births at all, and you pop up with that lot!

Karen, got to freebmd - http://freebmd*rootsweb*com/ Replace the asterisks with full stops when you enter it. Or google freebmd - it is a resource that everyone uses before the pay to view sites. It is not complete as its free and being transcribed by volunteers. If you cant find something on there you have to pay to view on 1837online or familyrelatives.org. Check out the information for newbies on the homepage of GR as I noticed you are also asking for pre 1837 births on the records board. Most people will be looking for those for you on familsearch.org. that is also a free site which you can look at yourself.
