for My G.Grandfather, Joseph Edwards, born in Dulverton, Somerset in 1837, I understand that the Census doesn't go back that far, are there any other types of records online that do go back to the early 1800's? (Can you tell I'm new to this?).

Thank you all so much. I think the one that Jim In Soton came up with is my best bet as I know he ended up in Cardiff, Wales. I don't have any birth certificates etc, yet as I'm in Canada but plan on getting some from the Cardiff GRO next time I go over home.

How strange, I was just adding to my tree about this name (not one of my main lines though). I always thought that a G Grandfather was born in Dulverton (both his parents were) but it turned out that they had 'crossed the water' to Wales, and that is where their son was born.
