How do i find my gt grandfathers death, geoge fredrick chandler, born 1868 in abingdon berkshire married in b'ham 1893 living with wife and family and lodger in 1901, a child is born 1903. in 1905 gt grandmother remarries saying widowed. I have searched and searched from 1901 on with no success, tried mispelt, nothing what can i di now? |

Various possibilities: He didn't die and she lied at the second marriage........ He did die and the entry never reached the GRO indexes..... He did die, but his body was not found (unlikely, I know, but still possible)....... She married the lodger, didn't she?? I wonder if hubby discovered something ''going on'' behind his back and upped and left.....he might even have gone abroad or something..... Merry |

Is it possible he died overseas? Have you searched on the overseas indexes on 1837 online? Also, try searching the National Probate Calendar (not available online, you have to search on microfiche at record offices or probate offices) to see if he left a will or if his estate went to administration.
