Thanks for putting me on the right road Jess, like I say they are not in my direct line, and she will be no relation at all, but it is really interesting. It is Stanley and Herbert who got the OBE's, probably during the war for services to agriculture, must have fed the troops. Hope you weren't late for work and thanks again for the help. Don't worry about Barbara, I can look her up now I know who she is. Update--couldn't hide my curiosity and found her in Yorkshire in 1881 with parents and 10 siblings!!!!! busy woman her mother!!!! Gloria :-))))) |

Wow Jess, you have been busy. Don't know which one he married. I have the info you found but cannot find him after the marriage, or any sign of his sons. I have gone a bit sideways on him as he is my gt grandfathers cousin, I was really interested in the OBE's---not got any more of those in any connection. Just nosey really to find out more. Gloria |

Gloria, You could try here (London Gazette) - remove brackets. http://www.gazettes-online(.)co.uk/honours.asp?webType=0 Archive: Honours And Awards The London Gazette has been continuously published in print since 1665 and it has been online via the Internet since March 1999, with retrospective coverage back to January 1998. On behalf of HMSO, over the next four years TSO are undertaking a major digitisation programme of the entire historical printed archive. The first phase, now available free online, covers 20th Century Honours and Awards, plus complete coverage of The London Gazette for the period of the World Wars. The material in this archive is historic and cannot be assumed to be reliable in a current context. If you have any further questions about the Gazettes Archive please e-mail london.gazette at tso(.)co(.)uk with a subject line 'Archive Query' Good luck Carol |

I have two rellies who were awarded OBE's for services to agriculture. I know their father was born 1865 in Briercliffe Lancashire, and I believe he married in 1889. I cannot find him in 1891 or 1901, he was called Bannister Kippax and his sons, who were awarded the OBE's were Herbert and Stanley. I don't know dates or where they were born, so I thought if I could find something about their awards I could work around that. Know its along shot but thought some of you knowledgeable people may have some idea where to look. Gloria |
