My parents celebrate 60 years of marriage next month, and I have been trying to find their best man. My parents are 81 and 82, so it is possible that he is no longer alive, but I feel the need to try. All I know is his name (Joe Whitlock) and that he was from Wales. He was an army pal of my dads and both were in the REME. I have tried the electoral roll for the last 4 years. nothing found for Joe, so I tried Joseph, and it came back with 9 Josephines. I have looked on here and friendsreunited but with no luck. I have tried to put something on the trying to find board, but it needs the person to be in my tree, which he is not. Anyone know where else I could try. |

Carol You could always put him on your tree, add your Trying to Find message, and then delete him. Alternatively, I don't know what the REME is, but perhaps they have a website where you can post a message or find out about ex-members? nell |

I found this on the deaths index on Ancestry. There are some other Joseph Whitlocks, but this is the only one born in Wales: Joseph George Whitlock Death Year: [1986] Age: 70 Birth Date: 22 Sep 1915 Death Registration Month/Year: Apr 1986 Registration District: Merthyr Tydfil Inferred County: Mid Glamorgan nell |

Here are some relevant links (found by googling REME): http://www.rememuseum.org.uk/ http://www.army.mod.uk/reme/ This one has links - including to the first, but also to the REME Association, which may be able to help. Christine and PS - GREAT Congratulations to your parents! A wonderful achievement! |

Carol, I have checked out the Forces Reunited website and no Joe or Joseph Whitlock is listed for REME. Good luck with your search. Maureen |

I believe there is a magazine, SAPPER but it may be too late to advertise now. They might be able to advise though. or What about an advert on the Channel 4 Teletext Forces friends pages? |
