I have a rellie, Newport Smith (nice and easy to find), born approx 1848 to William and Sarah Ann. He married Elizabeth and had a son whom he also named Newport (my gt grandfather). The problem I have is, Newport Snr is on the 1851, 1861, 1881 census but I cannot find him anywhere in 1871. Any ideas ? Thanks Matthew

There doesn't appear to be any source information and it's in small case letters so I'd imagine it's a recent entry. The marriage was at St. Marks in Wolverhampton......I'm not sure about the brides surname though, it's a bit unusual and I can't see it on Ancestry 1871. Heather

No. IGI has info from parish registers that were filmed by the LDS church. You're thinking of ancestral files, which are submitted by individuals. nell

Hi Rose, I've found this family also, but the ages and children don't tie up with the other census's. For instance the wife is Ann M, and I know she was Sarah Ann. There is no Henry or Rosanna. Frank was born in 1850 not 1856 Close but not close enough Matthew

It would appear Newport was not around for the 1871 census
