Whats 'Bertie ' short for?

I have a lady by the name of Bertie in my tree,but i dont know what it is short for ,anybody any ideas? Sue

Some people could be called Bert or Bertie as a name in its own right, but it could be short for Bertram Albert Herbert Hubert Robert and probably others, these are the ones I thought of straight away. Oops! I see you said 'lady'. Well Bert could be a nickname and nothing to do with her real name, or she could be Alberta, Bertice, Bertha, Roberta... nell

Could be a mis interpretation of a ladies name - several in my tree might be the dialect wasnt understood - nearesdt I could think of would be Beatie short for Beatrice Sylvie

Bertie is a name in itself in Wales....but usually for a male. Roberta for a female?
