Thank you all so much for looking I have copied all the info you have given me into a text file, so that will keep me busy for a while. I am living in Yatton at the moment, and according to other half, Tiverton is about 50 - 60 miles away. This James`s brother`s son, also James, was born in Cleeve, his sister Elizabeth born in Congresbury and brother William born in Brockley, all a short distance from Yatton. My ancestors on this line seemed to have been domestic servants and ag labs, so if James did move to Devon, how would he have travelled, as I am sure public transport was not cheap, if available at all. Thank you all once again. Carol |

Oooh Valerie, getting excited now! If he was in Devon in 1851 - that's where he would have met Elizabeth Zelley - lol! His age is slightly out but I think its him! I can feel it in my bones! |

Hi, Well I've looked and tried, looked and tried again - but with no luck! I found this but maybe I'm just getting desperate! - lol! A James Flew married an Elizabeth Zelley, Q3, 1852. The registration district is Tiverton - which spans the boundaries of Devon and Somerset. There are two possibles for this Elizabeth in 1851, both are born Tiverton, Devon. Couldn't find James on the 1851 or either of them (that's if these are your people!) on the 1861 Then I find a marriage in 1856 for an Elizabeth Flew - obviously may not be the same lady! If it is though, James must have died. Only one I feel could be minutely possible is in 1854, registered in the Bedminster district, which covers Somerset - maybe visiting relatives?? (However the page number is not within the range expected for the district) Anyway, all just guesswork from me I'm afraid! At least you know I've had a go! Off to have a nice soak in the bath now!
