I am fairly new to computers & know absolutely nothing about the inner workings so I hope someone will be kind enough to help me. I have AVG free edition & on a scan this morning the results showed 4 viruses. 3 which said Java/Byteverify infected embedded objects Black box.class - VerifyerBug.class - Beyond.class & 1 infected Archive all with 1E5/4D next to them. Also scan results said error in Boot Sector. They have not been healed or removed. Please can someone explain to me in 'simple' terms how to get rid of these? Many thanks for any help or advice Katherine

It can't remove it because it's not a virus. It's Adware. Download the trial of Adaware (google will find it) You should also install Microsofts Anti Spyware software.

You want Ad-aware Personal SE edition from Lavasoft

If you are running Windows XP do a 'Google' for Microsoft Beta Spyware, download and install it, it's far better than both Ad Aware & Spybot. Regards Ron www.genealogyprinters(.)com

And from my very painful recent experience, clearing your cookies may mean that you cannot get on this Site! You have to fiddle around with the 'Security levels' to find one acceptably low enough to let you onto GR. (Me, I gave up and bought a new computer) Olde Crone

Instead of clearing out cookies wholesale by clicking on the 'delete cookies' button, go into 'View Files' and delet6e manually, leaving those which refer to sites you want to access. Do 'Delete Temporary Internet files' first though, that will just leave the (much reduced in number) cookies.

Tracy, go to GOOGLE and type in COMPUTERACTIVE and you should come up with the website for the monthly magazine. You will then have to register. After you go to 'downloads' and look for ADAWARE SE LAVASOFT, its free, its easy to download and you can then run a scan and sort things out. very easy to use, and only takes seconds to download After that use it every 2/3 days. You can go straight to the Lavasoft site at http://www(.)lavasoftusa(.)com/software/adaware/ As usual, remove the brackets
