my father and his twin sister were born on 5 aug 1931 his mother registered the birth later that month then just disappears anyone like mysteries. my father and his sister went into waifs and strays (waiting for his adoption file) his sister was fostered to wales my father to tonwell a small village near ware herts i have found out about his elder brother albert born 1917 he was in royal navy married then emmigrated to australia in 1946 still waiting to locate any relatives i have found his twin sister and my cousin in australia (from this site) i know my grandfather died in 1944 (have death cert) my grandmother has just vanished i have checked emmigration to australia under maiden name and married name,death in maiden and married name,re marriage in maiden name (if divorced) for england wales on 1837online dont know where else to look unless she just ran off with another man changed name went to scotland or ireland etc etc does anyone know if you can search mental hospitals someone said maybe she suffered post natal depression after twins at 39yrs old and in those days didnt know what it was so would have been put into hospital as you can see im clutching at straws but have found out all i wanted to know except what happened to the mother to make them be put into waifs and strays any ideas very much appreciated

Have you searched local/national newspaper archives? Maybe she was reported as missing. There are so many possible scenarios...
