how do i find an adoption if i have no new name??

any one got ant ideas,,,trying to find a half brother my mum had adopted in belfast about 1960-1970...i only know his name was thomas as my mum had a pic of him,,,where do i go??? |

presumably you know what your mothers surname was at the time? hope fully you shoul dbe able to find his birth ref number. what you will find almost impossible to find will be the name he was given on adoption - this is only open to adoptees. |

evryone who has been born since 1837 has had their birth registerd and give a unique number. in order to find this number you look for a name of a person born in the right place (or at least the place you think they were born ) in the right years. so you need to go to www(.)1837(.)gov and look for the birth of a Thomas......... (whatever your mothers surname was then) |

thanks for the info ladies,,,i thort that maybe i had found it but the district is birmingham..so still not that close...also thanks for telling me about it not being done in ireland that helps lots. will try all you have said |
