Lorraine, Try this one. http://resources.archives(.)tas(.)gov(.)au/pioneers/ The site has a section where you can look up convict permission to marry. Gives the names of both parties and the ship they travelled on if they were a convict. try this one as well http://www.rootsweb.com/~austashs/convicts/con_main.htm and this one.... www.coraweb.com.au scroll down and click on convicts and you'll be given heaps of links, including the National Archives of Ireland online database, where you can search convicts sent to Aus. from Ireland. Hi Lorraine..My email to you bounced back.So hope you read this. Have you any more details AT ALL..I did look in the Library but it was looking for a needle in a haystack! On google i did find a list of Shipwrecks off Tasmania..but so many and even then few details of drownings.Did he go overboard? Still haven't got to the local Family History place..will try . So I have not forgotten you. Could you send email again? Also there is an Australian site...coraweb.... which has ships etc Best wishes Eileen

hello Lorraine, the following website should assist you with convict vessels to Van Diemans Land ( Tasmania) www(.)convictcentral(.)com/ Top right hand corner click on all convict ships, new screen then gives you the option to click on Australian distinations, click on Tasmania, you will then get all convict vessels to Tasmania 1812-1853. I had a quick look, found a few vessels departing Ireland. For a listing of convicts, try the the following website http://www(.)hotkey(.)net.au/~jwilliams4/cons.htm. Scroll down to Tasmania. There are 27 options you can access including a convicts index. Hope this helps, let me know if you need further assistance Helen in Brisbane Australia
