Hi, for my birthday in a few weeks me and my mum are going to spend the weekend in the little village that my nan and all her family were originally from. So what im asking is if there is anyone who lives or used to live in Rattlesden, Suffolk. If by some miracle you do please could you PM me as you may be able to help with a couple of questions before we go. Many thanks!

thanks Julia, have done that Hi Heather I have constantly googled for a few weeks, and there is some good stuff on there. I was just hoping on the off chance that someone might be able to give me a bit more info - for example my nan described a house she used to live in but i dont know an address. My mum has printed off the walk that is listed, which we are going to attmpt to do if the weathers not too bad!

What about trying to email the church warden for info. The one I contacted in Norfolk village was very into local history. Perhaps you could describe the house to them?

hi Robyne the local post office might be a good bet (that is if there still is one), you could ask them to put a notice up asking if anyone knows the house or better still remembered your rellies. Gloria x

With regard to this house with no address, if you have a date and know the names of adults in the house, maybe a Post Office directory at the local central library would point you to the correct property?? Merry

Village pubs are also a good place for advertising for information.

WELL, - It certainly looks like an 'Interesting' place !!! I wondered if, as in so many other places nowadays, it might have had a webcam set up, in which case you could have had a look around the village in advance - I googled Rattlesden + webcam and up came all these sites for various activities in 'this little village' related to gay swingers, adult swingers, etc. etc. etc. and MUCH more - I am not sure if this is the sort of place you should be taking your mother to! ?? Anyway, DO enjoy the trip, I am sure if will bring back lots of lovely memories for her. (Hopefully not of the sort mentioned above - tee hee !) Dea x

Hi all thanks for the replies! Funnily enough my grandparents were the postmasters in the village at one point,so im hoping they might have some pics or something. Think my mum might be quite impressed with swingers parties, shes only 47. shes getting married next year, i might take her back for a 'wild' weekend!!!! I did email the parish vicar but he didnt respond, my mum is going to try and ring the warden and see if he can come up with anything

Dont worry, Im sure there will only be one gay in the village. Those 'village' sites cover every single village in the country its a bit like e-bay, (if you put in a google for dead people it will probably come up with a link saying they have them for sale!), it doesnt actually mean there are swingers there! I bet someone is now rushing to see if e-bay has dead people for sale!
