Hi, is there anywhere that lists the above for the 1851 northumberland census. Ive got an address and parish from 1881 but need it for 1851 and dont want to have to trawl every single page

Hi the address i have for a marriage in oct 1851 is Manor Chare in Newcastle and also Westgate Road in Newcastle. Im able to find those in 1881 ok, but obviously they arent living there any more so im struggling

Right, the first one! Manor Chare is in All Saints parish (from 1881 census) For 1851: Click 1851 census in bottom left corner of main Search page Scroll down to under search box and click Northumberland Click Newcastle upon Tyne All Saints Click All Saints Click District 25 That's the one you want - 29 pages to search. Off to look for the other one................. Merry

Not so much luck with the other one: From 1881, Westgate Road is in St John's parish. 1851 Click 1851 census Click Northumberland Click Newcastle upon Tyne St John Click St Nicholas There are then districts 1a-1l to view. Unfortunately the wrong page has been filmed for the Description of Enumeration District bit for district 1a, so maybe your road is in district 1a?? I couldn't find a ref to Westgate Road in any oof the others, only Westgate STREET. Westgate St features in just about every district!! Merry

thanks ever so much Merry, funnily enough the address i have is Westgate Street yet i have never found it before so thought it must have been a typo!!!

Hope you find what you want Robyne! Can you tell me what a Chare is??? I thought it was a typo when I saw your first post (LOL!), but now realise they went in for Chare's in Newcastle-u-T!! I thought it was something you sat on :O)) Merry

I have no idea, i thought it was manor chase until yesterday! i dont think its a place, more a building. I googled the area and it came up with a building, so i think it was like apartments. Looks quite posh, but as its my family it was probably a dive!
