Nancy???

My MIL was a Nancy but was always called Ann. In fact I didn't know she was Nancy till I started this and sent for her birth certificate. Linda

My Gt Uncle was married to a Nancy - I later found out that her proper name was Annie Elizabeth - So if I were you I'd definatley send for the cert.

I can only think of Swallows and Amazons, where Nancy was Ruth and Peggy was Margaret.

Could be short for Hannah too.

Can also be used for Hannah - As Hannah could be shortened to Ann, which could then be Nancy

Cheers.... I can't find the birth for Nancy but I have found one for Ann, correct year, area....just might send off for it now Sue xx

in my book of names it says Nancy see Ann but it can be a name on its own too. it says Nan, Nanny,Nancy are variants of Anita, Annette and Anona. Jeanette

There's quite a few Nancys who are actually Ann, and the other way round (as I found out when looking for some of my lot lol)
