I have successfully contacted my grandmother's family in the UK - Yippeee!!! Unfortunately they don't know much about her. The National Archives in Australia have sent me details of my grandmother Kathleen Drake arriving in AUstralia 10th January 1939. On the Incoming Passenger list she has listed that Australia is the Country of her Intended future residence. The Dept. of Immigration in Australia which covers the period of 1904 - 1974 indicates that she never became an Australian citizen - I checked both her maiden name DRAKE and married name LASHAM. Apparently her mother came to see her possibly in the 50/60's but the location was unknown other than Australia - Her mother stayed for a while then returned to the UK. Are there records of UK citizens in Australia and who would I need to contact - Any ideas? Cheers Janine |

> Are there records of UK citizens in Australia? There is nothing specific about foreign visitors to Australia. There would probably be arrival and departure records kept by immigration but they are not public documents, and they wouldn't tell you anything but the dates in any case. Cheers, Bill Sydney, Australia |
