Documents Online has details of WW2 merchant seamen. If you search the National Archives catalogue - part of the same site - for the surname of interest, using class BT, many seamen are listed. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a merchant seamans list, listing all seamen [merchant] during the war [ww2] and the years following up to 1955. james.
