Hi Catherine, Princess Street is in the heart of Shrewsbury Town Centre. It is where the Square is. There are shops and houses there. I am going into the town on Thurday so could have a look for number 11 and get you a photo if you are interested. Let me know Wilf :-)

Just me again! By a flukey coincidence I have just tried looking up the address on 192.com. I wanted to see if the electoral roll was viewable. It wasn't so I tried one of the other options called 'Propery Prices'. Up came number 11 as it was sold in August 2004. C

Thanks a million Looby Loo. That's great news. I'm sure it will be the one I'm looking for. I'll try the website you mention after writing this. If anyone from Shrewsbury reads this thread, and knows Princess Street do they know what sort of house it is? Is it residential? On a separate note, what is the easiest way to look at electoral rolls dating back to the 1970s or 1930s? Is it a trip to the CRO for Shrewsbury? Thanks Catherine

You can see Princess Street on www streetmap co uk. You could ring the Shrewsbury library and ask if they know about Sefton House. nell

Thanks Jess. I have found Princess Street on Google etc, but just can't find Sefton House. I suppose it could have been a house name which simply no longer exists. I'll keep trying. C

Hi I live in the north west and have no knowledge of Shrewsbury. An address 'Sefton House, Shrewsbury' has cropped up on two documents - a marriage certificate from 1936 and divorce papers in 1971 for my grandparents. The address is quoted for my grandfather. Although they both lived in the north west we have no idea why this address was used. I am curious if it is a valid address? Does it still exist? Is it a residential address? No street name was quoted so I personally have been unable to locate it, but someone on a Shrewsbury forum has found it listed in a 1967 Gazzeteer and it is on Princess Street. Does anyone know Princess Street? Is Sefton House still there? Any help to identify Sefton House would be appreciated. Cheers Catherine
