GR also won't let you add 2 sets of parents for a child, so many people may have atleast 2 trees, one for biological trees and one for adopted/ fostered trees. I have had to leave out one daughter from a family group because she was an 'adpoted' daughter in 1891 to one of my ancestors, but I had wanted to find out who she was and how else she might have been related. |

You cannot do it manually but if your home genealogy program shows the position correctly, and virtually all do, and you import your tree into GR then you don't get duplicated names. |

Really Liz? In that case I shall expect my problem of not being able to export my tree off the site to receive a response in about 2007! Lou |

At present, GR has no facility for accommodating families who inter-marry more than once. Unfortunately you have to add the individuals twice. I first emailed GR about this in early 2003 and was told they were working on it, and would sort it out soon. Ho ho.. Liz x |

Hi Brenda I have the same problem with my tree. My mam's maternal grandfather married my mam's paternal grandmother! I have had to list them twice on the tree. luckily they were too old to have any more children so it is only them that appear twice. Trish |

I have two families already established in my tree, Cummings and Finnigan, who are related through marriage, Robinson Cummings married Mary Jane Finnigan. I found Mary Jane’s family in earlier census returns and have them listed on my tree too, all was well until today, when I found that Robinson’s cousin Anthony Cummings married Mary Jane’s older sister, Catherine. Now, if I add Anthony as a partner for Catherine or vice versa, I’m adding people who are already on my tree… how do I make the link without adding them in twice?? Thanks, Brenda |
