If anyone can help me, I'm looking for an Sarah Jane - I believe her name is Bowich, as I found it on a marriage record as marrying a Charles Pearman in 1858, in King's Lynn Norfolk. I looked up on a 1851 CD hoping beyond hope that it had this data, but there was not one Bowich on there. In 1861 When she is known as Sarah Jane Pearman, she is written down as born in Walsoken, which is right on the Cambs/Norfolk border, I searched both, nothing, I searched the WHOLE country, nothing! Alien invasion? I think so! |

Oh and by the way if you follow her through the years, she was very inconsistant about her age, luckily I matched her up through other means. So i've put her year of birth somwhere in the middle! |

Well, here is one in 1841: Mitford & Launditch District East Dereham 1841 Dist 1 BOWICK, George 25 AgLab Nfk 21--123 So may be you should try the East Dereham area aswell - about 15 miles I think from Kings Lynn. |

Names different and east dereham is nowhere near walsoken. I used soundex on my search abd went through some names which it could be, nothing really came which someone could have accidently mistaken it for. Apart from Bouch, but nothing really! |

Paul, you amazed me, I would think this was a very good likely mistranslation - my gawd my Horsteads of Norfolk are down as Horsted, Hosted, Horsehead and even more! I think may be that is the problem, you arent thinking out of the box. By the way, I live here in the area and I can assure you that the journey from Walsoken to East Dereham would be no big deal. It wouldnt be more than 30 mins journey now. Check out the name on a google search, there are dozens of leads there, but you need an open mind and a keeness to find them. |

I guess you found the marriage record on either Ancestry or Freebmd. I see that the ref for Charles Pearman's marriage is Dec 1858 King's Lynn 4b 1011. Although Freembmd has Sarah Jane Bowich as a possible bride with that reference, 1837online does not have a Sarah Jane Bowich OR Bowick indexed in that quarter - therefore this is a mistranscription by Freebmd |

well I did think it'd be a mistranscription, but I would have thought the mistransciption would have still lead me to the same area. Which is why I searched with soundex around the Wisbech area, and found some names i thought it could have been, 'Boich', and 'Bouch' being some of them. Thanks anyway. |
