Bill in Sydney Hi What I was asking was if they weren't very strict in Fremantle about recording Births that occured there , Were they any more strict about recording Deaths that occured there ? Hope that clears up what I meant. Thanks Merry thank you, I do have those births but as Richard confirmed for me they were not too strict about recording the births and they do not show up on the WA Pioneers Births at all, I did send for a transcription from Marbract In NSW and these births that occured all in Fremantle W.A . are on the transcription but is also says that 4 males and one female died and I was trying to find some evidence of those children as to where they were born and where they died? I thought if they died in WA they might have been in the deaths on WA Pioneers thats if they were stricter about recording deaths than they were about Births hope this makes sense Thanks again for trying to help me Kind Regards Lara |

I'm not quite sure that I know what you are after, but just checking that you have the births of: Anne 1862, Freemantle, WA Charles 1863, ditto Frances 1866, ditto From IGI Merry |

> Richard , I got a transciption from N.S.W and on it it says > Margaret Walsh had four deceased sons and one deceased > female would they have been more strict re death > registrations than they were about the births do you know > please I'm not sure what you are really asking..... but as far as the children shown on a NSW death certificate for a parent, it is simply a record of what was alleged by whoever reported the death. There was no checking (or indeed way of checking) to see if it was accurate. Cheers, Bill Sydney, Australia |

Hi Lara The only Walsh child death that fits with your dates is this one: WALSH, PATRICK father: PATRICK mother: UNKNOWN year: 1857 place of birth: UNKNOWN age: 5 reg No: 983 ''UNKNOWN'' usually means that the info was not recorded for that column. Maybe the others died on the voyage across? Cheers, Richard |

Richard , I got a transciption from N.S.W and on it it says Margaret Walsh had four deceased sons and one deceased female would they have been more strict re death registrations than they were about the births do you know please? They would have been born between 1863 and 1868 if born in Fremantle and died there but they could have been born in Ireland and died on the voyage or in W.A also so there deaths could be anytime between 1856 when they arrived and 1867 when she left WA , I only have the names of the living children so can't give you those either, Kind Regards Lara |

Even though civil reg started in WA in 1841, as in England this was not strongly enforced in the early days, and many births were not registered. The WA Pioneers Index website states: 'Please note that it is possible that some events were never registered, therefore the registry will not have a record of them' Richard |

I have received a Death Transcription from Marbract today for My 2xgreat grandmother Margaret Mary Lowney and it confirms that her last four children were born in Fremantle Western Australia between 1854 and 1865 when her and spouse Patrick Walsh lived in WA but the births have been looked for in W.A Pioneers and BDM for W.A and have not been found can anyone give me a clue as to why they would not be there or does anyone know if there is a gap in Fremantle birth records that anyone knows of. I'm completly out of options unless they were put under wrong spelling such as Welsh, Wilsh ,Wolsh , If you have any ideas I would be grateful for any suggestions whatsoever Kind Regards Lara |
