Well Done Diane!!! I spent ages looking earlier on Ancestry - how puzzling they can't be found on there but you found them on 1837 online. Oh well, good on you! Helen x

Hi I found them by looking on the 1837 web site as I've had success finding people from the 1861 census there when I couldn't find them on Ancestery web site before. Living at 3 Providence Street, St Maurice, York SLEIGHT, John Head Married M 41 Bricklayer Appleby Lincolnshire SLEIGHT, Martha Wife Married F 34 Cawood Yorkshire SLEIGHT, William Son M 7 Scholar York Yorkshire SLEIGHT, Alice Daughter F 5 Scholar York Yorkshire SLEIGHT, Frederick Son M 0 York Yorkshire on RG09 piece 3550 folio 7 page 6 I tried to find it from this info on Ancestery and couldn't. I've saved the census images from the 1837 site and I'll email them to you if you contact me with your email address. Best wishes Diane

Ive tried absolutely everything. just put in first name, just put in last, put in Appleby, put in York. I was hoping i was just being completely stupid! John and Martha Waddington married 27/8/1848 at St Laurence, York as per LDS. Is there a way to find out if some areas were 'lost'?

I have searched on Ancestry and can find no family with those names in that area sorry, but then I am not as experienced as others so somebody else will probably find them for you.

Hi, Im looking for John (c1819 Appleby Lincs) and Martha Sleight (1829 Cawood Yorks) and their children William H (1853 York),(Alice 1856 York) and possibly Frederick (1860 York). Have found them in all other Census' but not 1861. I cant access ancestry at work but Im presuming they are in York because of Fredericks birth place. St Helen on the Walls is where they were in 1871. Johns job is Bricklayer
