Hi Ive been trying to find Peter Ormerwood b 1858/9 preston lancs, in the 1881 census, I have him for all the other years, ive found a Peter Almond born 1859 preston, a servant at 'New Hall', Inskip with sowerby. Lancs. does any one know how i can double check this, ive gone to other census years and cant find a Peter Almond b preston so im hoping this is him. or can some one have a look at the original paper and check the spelling for me to see if there has been a mistake made,( ive no credits left, boo hoo.) many thanks marie |

It definitely says Peter Almond. There is also a Robert Almond at the house before, who is a servant. |

Thanks Robyne and Kathleen they must be brothers then. Peter Ormerwood was in fulwood workhouse in 1871 and they misspelt his name then (omerod). Ill keep on looking, is there any lists or institutions that are not included in the census? may be hes on them, im totally stuck now Cheers anyway Marie |

Does he have a wife called Jane by any chance? There is a Peter Ormerod on the 1881, right birth year, and birthplace given as Dean, Lancs. which isn't too far from Preston. I've saved the image in case it's him? Kath. x |

Hi Kath to our knowledge he married his first wife in 1886 she was Alice J Hornby, i wonder if it could be him? Marie |

Do you know his occupation from later census years? Update - just looked up his occupation and it doesn't seem to be the same person. Your man's wife is Alice Joanne, not Jane. And on the 1901 she's down as Ann J. - all very confusing. Kath. x |

1871 he was listed as scholar 1891 he was a farm labarour 1901 he was a railway navvy marie |
