Hi all! I have been looking for a Grand-Uncle. He cut ties with his family back in the early 1950s. After my grandfather died (they would have been brothers) I thought I would have a look and see if he had died by going through the death record. I have found him in the death entry. He died in 2001. I have his cerficatate. How do I go about getting a copy of his will or probate? Not that I am hoping he has left something!!!! but rather to check to this is this indeed the same person. Ta! |

You'll need to check the probate calendar which most main Records Offices will hold. If he left a will, he should be listed but remember to check a year or so after the death as they're not always proven immediately If you type WILLS into the search box, you'll find lots of threads telling you how to obtain a copy from York. It costs £5 Lou |
