Have found a rellie from Langley Mill. According to the 1871 census it says Langley Mill Notts. Unfortunately the name is Smith! Have trawled thru all the Smith births in IGI and nothing has come up for Langley Mill. I wondered if records would be under another place name, it looks very close to Eastwood on the map. Carole xx

Coincidentally I came across this place yesterday & it is Derbys/Notts. The family lived in Eastwood for a while. Regards Angela ps on one census it said Notts & another Derbys.

ps on one census it said Notts & another Derbys. Not unusual, county boundaries change. Census pieces don't always cover one county, often one piece will cover a convenient area which includes parts of more than one county. If you look at the registration districts on GENUKI you will see that many include parts of two completely different counties. Someone could have born in one county but registered in another because the town was closer. MB
