Just because he isn't on the list on Kevin's site doesn't mean he wasn't in the Boer War. It only names men in the following sections: Men of the Imperial Yeomanry, Lovats Scouts and Scottish Horse My grandfather was in the King's Own Royal Rifles and his name isn't on the list, but we have his discharge papers which states that he was there, and that he got the South Africa Medal. Boer War, Go into Google -Kevin Asplin Military History - his site, hometown......contains a FREE search of all the recipients of the South Africa Medal - all troops who served there got one and will almost certainly be on his list. Maurice |

1891 details are for Percy Strouvelle age 18 born 1876 (I have his birth cert and its 1875) Westmoreland Kendal reference page rg12/216. He is a bar man , I thought I maybe could find the Bar manager James Lennick b1864 Oxwich, and might find Percy Still with him in 1901. He was born Andrew Percy Strouvelle in 1875 , and I have in 1881 in Croydon. Just no one knows what happened to him. Since posting have now found John Brockhouse married and also Henry Luton married by 1901, but no sign of James Lennick. I suppose Percy is a good candidate for Boer War ,and would be unlikely to be working for same man after 10 years. How could I find out any more about whether he was in the Boer war? Thankyou Kim |

Since Percy was 15 in 1891, then I think the Boer war was a good possibility, as he would be the right sort of age for the Army. My grandfather was not on the 1901 because of the Boer War. Kath. x |

Have you considered that your relaitives may be serving in the Boer War. My great grandfather did and I have his service records which I got from Kew (National Archives). Fi |

Rg12/216 an Inn at 339 Strnd St Mary le Strand district , cannot find any of the inhabitants bar Henry Luton by 1901, where have they all gone? I've checked both Ancestry and the 1901 proper site. Or is it me going blind again? Especially interested in Percy Strouvelle as no-one in my family knows what happened to him .... I think time to do something else before I drive myself round the twist. Kim 1891 searched have them previously , |
