help needed please.

don't know where to start looking really! ...................my grandfather served in the ww2 in the RAF. think it was military transport section as he is photographed beside a 4 ton lorry. don't have service no or where he was based....he survived the war......... his name was.......george harper blakeman flemington......from scotland............... can any one find out any info for me please....tried the archives site, and it confussing me.......help really needed please... much appreciated... lynnxx

Lynn go into site and on top bar press search archive in drop down box go onto Document online then put name into search box. hope that helps please don't yell so loudly I've only got little ears

I don't think the National Archives site will give you much on a WW2 service record, as many of the people who served in WW2 are still alive and may not want their data given out. Kate.

dawn, pmsl, could'nt find him~!!! mind you nothing new there... he and his brothers are the only ones in the line of my ancestors i can't find??? all i have are his birth and death date. will keep trying. many thanks lynnxx

Hello Miss Happy, You can obtain his service record through the addresses on this website: http://www.mod.uk/contacts/raf_records.htm It will cost £30 though. (another Christmas pressie? lol) I got my dad's and there was loads, but he was in the RAF for 30+ years. Good Luck Merry
