Just another thought Steph - if you don't find the marriage 1851 to 1853 try widening your search to before and after those dates. Kate. |

Steph - have you looked on 1837 online, or just on FreeBMD? If you haven't looked on 1837 online I would say it is worth buying the credits and looking on there before spending £7 on ordering an unlikely certificate. Francis could easily be a mistranscription of Frances, but as one of your earlier replies says there are definitely two wives for that page number, this Francis must be a man. Also, try all variations of McCormick - MacCormick, McCormack, MacCormack, and probably there are some I haven't thought of! Oh, and there are loads of variations of McLoughlin too, as I am sure you already know. Kate. |

problem here -- all the adjacent pages have 2 boys and 2 girls, according to FreeBMD, but this one has Francis, Elizabeth, Catherine and Christina. Turns out Christina is actually Christino on the image, new one on me but I assume it's a boy's name, so it looks like Francis is the other groom as expected |

You could put a query on Records office page, give them his name and the full ref you have for Francis/Frances and some kind soul could see if he is registered as marrying under same details as Francis? Put a heading '1837 marriage look up please'. |

Is it possible for the name frances/is to be spelt: FRANCIS for a girl? Or would it need to be frances. I have got a marriage and hopefully it is the right girl on the 71 census it is spelt frances could this still be her? I cannot find a marriage registered under the husbands name from 1851-53 Stephanie. 10/10/05: hi everyone thanks for the ideas. i am going to check on 1837 online to check, but i am going to wait a while until i send off for the certificate. Thanks again steph. |
