Hello Can anyone give me some advice? My dad was adopted in 1939. He asked to see if I could find anything off the net. I found details of his deceased birth mother (no contact was ever made). I've also found that he has a half brother. that he never knew about.I've tried this site for any family contacts but to no avail. I've searched electoral registers and found one match in the whole of the country. My mom and dad want me to make contact by letter but I'm wary. Has anyone else been in the same situation? When my dad had social worker involvement when he applied for his birth certificate to get his passport 11 years ago there were no messages or contacts left for him. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks Lesley |

Hi Lesley, I am adopted & the law states that the adopted person or relatives can get in contact with prospective relatives, however the parents that gave up the child cannot , you are well within your rights to contact them, theres no need to be wary, its perfectly O.K, go ahead what have you got to lose, I wish I had a connection, I've been serching for ages as to no avail, please let me know how you get on or reply now if you want, hope I've helped, regards Louise. |
