Other people must have come across this - it's happened at least a couple of times in my tree. How do you build your tree when cousins marry, without duplicating entries? For example, my husband's grandparents were first cousins, so he has six great-grandparents instead of eight & so on. Hope someone can understand what I mean! Angela |

I have this in my tree. As far as I know, GR has no way of accommodating this. You will have to end the line with one of the cousins, and put a note on that their parents are so-&-so. Other family tree programmes are more flexible - I use FTM and there is no problem there. Hope this helps, Liz x |

Hi Angela, This has happened twice in my family where a brother & sister married cousins who were brother & sister. To avoid confusion and because I couldn't link them accross the tree. I highlighted both with numbers and used the same number when I added them to their husbands. This explains why the females appear twice in the tree. ie as a child from their parents and as a spouse. Hope this is of use to you Chris |

Thanks Chris - that would seem a sensible way to do it. What a pain some of these relatives are! Angela |

If you enter data manually then GR won't accomodate you. You have to duplicate entries. However if you download your tree into GR via Gedcom then the position is shown correctly, without duplication of names. |

Hi, FTM is a tree program that you buy. I do not know if it is available on Ancestry. Liz x |
