I must add that the cost is not really relevant to me-more the effectiveness-Norton not protecting my computer well enough cost me £85 to sort out.The combination of the right anti virus and spyware is critical-dont have too many on your computer-just one of each-sometimes they conflict and make your system vulnerable-eg Norton with Spybot is no good-I found that to my cost. Also,no software guarantees 100% protection-you can just get unluckyand get hit with trojans and worms,no matter what.

Hi, Just another confirming dump Norton and go for Grisoft's AVG. Norton are too expensive ( Irish Vat is more than ours ) and too clever at keep putting messages on screen reminding of renewal for 3 months before the due date. Mind they don't take sub automatically if you previously paid by credit card !!!

I think most of us use AVG7 from grisoft- its free and updates daily. I also use Zone Alarm firewall and Microsofts spyware - all freebies - I dumped Mcafee paid for program for them. I also like CCleaner which cleans up all the rubbishy bits of files left on the puter.

I changed from norton to avast- only because the viruses are being targeted at norton ratherthan the smaller outfits. Adaware SE professional is good to use in conjunction with this, for dealing with spyware.
