I quote: 'In February a National Probate Users Group was formed, although the original users group still exists. The intention to put the probate calendars onto the internet has moved a stage further - a pilot scheme is to be carried out in Biirmingham but we have not heard when.' So I don't think we hold our breath.

Kate I'm pretty sure that's where the lady said she sent for it but I could be mistaken. Having said that I had contact with a chap on here and he sent me a copy of a will from 1852 - it might have been that now I think about it. Debby

Debby - are you saying you managed to find details of an 1862 will online? If so, how? Kate.

Sorry Ted! I didn't realise they didn't have up to date ones - the one I was interested in was from 1862. Sorry for the duff info... Debby

Ann That sounds cheaper than the site I've given Ted - think you have to pay extra for each extra year they have to search. I was lucky - a lady on here I contacted about my tree wasn't sure we were related but when I gave her my ggg grandmothers married name she remembered it on a copy of a will she had of my gggg grandfathers. She kindly sent me a copy - fascinating stuff! Debby

There is no national searchable site for wills after 1858, as you have probably found out already. There may be databases for some counties but I doubt if they would go up to the dates you mention. Even the bound volumes of the National Probate Calendar in my local record office only goes up to 1968, so I am sure you would have to either send off to York for them to do the searches, or travel to a probate office to do the searches yourself. Kate.

Hi all, does anyone know if there is a searchable site on the web for WILLs? Im looking for 4 wills 1967, 1977, 1983, and 1989, that is if wills were made by those people and I would hope to be able to search then send off for photostat copies instead of having to travel 40 odd miles to the nearest Probate Office. Thanks TED.
