I ordered a copy of my Grandfathers birth certificate, as I was stuck on details of his parents. I have now received this and it does show his mum and dad's names and address etc, but I still stuck!!! I can't find any records of them on any of the census, even using the address. I've searched for a marriage records with no luck and I don't know what to do next..........am I missing something.

Thank you Ladies, I have got so stuck in the rut that my family name was Pettitt that I didn't think outside the box!!! Although I'm curious to where the extra T came from.

Anita. I am researching Pettitt in Suffolk. and I have found them 2.t' 3 t's and petite, pettett. Never thought of Pellet. will look for my missing relly as that spelling, just in case. regards Sunny.

Hi Anita and Rosie. I think an extra t is very little to worry about! I have much bigger variations on my certs. I found the Pellett family by entering just Thomas' first name and year of birth and place of birth. In the old writing l's can often look like t's. If you look at the actual image of this Pellett family you can see it is mistranscribed from Pettitt
