Steve if you know the GRO number you can oder it online from Southport or if you know the quarter and year either phone the office it was registered in and they will tell you how to go about it usually send cheque and they will send it or go in and wait for them to find it and copy it, can take a while though. |

It's more tricky getting a marriage certificate from the local registrar than it is birth or death certs as the registration district will have covered many churches and not many registrar's offices have an index that covers them all, so if you don't know which church they married in its a case of them having to search each register in turn. You may well find its easier to order online from the GRO. |

Steve Not sure if Southport do it straight away or not they have a website though that will give you their address and phone number. If you call then they will be able to tell you. Do you know the GRO number for marriage |

Yes If you want to order it online go to the 1837 online website and there is a button at top 'order certificates' that will take you to the GRO website. |

Steve Lancashire have started their own dedicated on-site ordering website. Sorry I don't know the exact addy but should think it will be on the Lancashire Records Office Site! I used to deal with Blackburn RO a lot - my rellies hail from there. I had absolutely OUTSTANDING service from them and my brother once went in to get a copy of a marriage cert - he had to wait a whole 20 minutes for it! Olde Crone |
