Robert is a widower in 1861. The girls are young in 1871. I think they are more likely to be Catherine's daughters. Robert may or maynot be the father. |

yes the Robert C Green in 1871 is the correct one, his first wife died then he married my gt-grandmother in 1869, the children Jessie and Emma must be from his first wife. I will try the Victoria Road name,thanks very much for your help.Madeline |

What about the Robt C GREEN born abt 1834 and shown as 37 in 1871. Born St Giles in the Fields Married to Catherine and with daughters Jessie and Emma. Sorry computer is playing up and I can't copy details. |

Thanks Gweneth, my gt-grandfather was Robert Green, on Ancestry.com i found him in Newington St Mary with his brother-in-law William Ward, wife Martha M A, matilda dau, Frederick son, Arthur son. Roberts age was 27yrs a widower,bookseller,birthplace St Giles William Ward 33 yrs merchants clerk, birthplace St Dunstans. Thanks again Madeline |

Has any found that you can find an ancestor on one census but not on another census of the same year ? I found my gt-grandfather on Ancestry.com and as i could'nt read the address i looked him up on 1837 online, but either he had moved or 1837 havent got the full census for London which they say they have.Has anyone got any tips on how to read an unreadable address? Regards Madeline |
