Appreciate your efforts Pippa............did a similar thing a few months back-spent 4 hours walking round in circles-dates all over the place-theyre more intersted in health and saftey regs these days with posts and metal straps, and big warning signs plastered all over the stones, moving them without notification.

Frist of all I have to say that I had bitten off more than I could chew - it's bloomin' enormous and all I got for my trouble was back ache and sore feet as for some reason they have picked the hilliest spot they could find it's like the Welsh hills! I couldn't find anything for me. However there was a sign up from 1997 and they have cleared huge areas of unstable stones and kerbs. Most likey the people that I am interested in. Johnathan - I'm afraid that I didn't find anything for you. The modern part is very confusing and squashed up with stones back to back that makes it very difficult. However if you find out where the stones are I would be more than happy to oblige with a transcription or photo at a later date. Alter - The earliest death date that I could read was 1862 so perhaps it would be best for you to get in touch with the council. The only 2 transcriptions I have are: In loving memory of my dear wife Harriett Ellis died 17th Feb 1948 Age 74 and her beloved husband Alfred died 2nd Jan 1953 Aged 87. Stephen Burrows who departed this life on Jan 5th 1884 Aged 81 Also wife Sarah April 4th 1884 Aged 82 Mary Ann Simpson their daughter Jan 26th (unreadable poss 1905) Age 75 years. So it looks like that I am sending a letter to the council this week to find out where my great grandmother and her parents are and we know that she is there somewhere! Pippa

When I was doing some research I was told something along the lines of 'unfortunately all the church yards became full about 1895 ish so they created the big one' ie the one that I am going to tomorrow. If you believe your ancestor is in there you have to contact the local council. Pippa
