Please could someone look for a Charles Bell (born 1842 in Horncastle, Lincs). I'm trying to fill the blanks relating to his other family members and their backgrounds (job etc). His parents may have been - Benjamin & Mary Bell, but this has to be confirmed. Thanks xx |

Would it say anything about him (Benjamin) being a widow? I just wondered where his wife might be. |

His marital condition say's he is married as opposed to being a widower. She may have been staying with family on census night! I'll see if I can find her............. Lib |

This entry looks like a good possibility, Her marital status Is 'married' and her occupation is stated as 'farmers wife' Joseph the head is a farmer of 260 acres, employing 6 labourers and 2 boys. Looks like all family members work on the farm as they are described as 'farmers son', and 'farmers Daughters' With exception to Ann who is a scholar! Address Thimbleby marsh Of course you will have to make sure this is correct Mary Bell and family! 1861 England Census records matching your search for All Records > Census > 1861 England Census Match Quality Name Estimated Birth Year Birthplace Relationship Civil Parish County/Island View Image Ann Bell abt 1810 Louth, Ireland Wife Langton Lincolnshire Ann Bell abt 1851 Tedford Daughter Langton Lincolnshire Benjaman Bell abt 1838 Tedford Son Langton Lincolnshire Betsey Bell abt 1836 Tedford Daughter Langton Lincolnshire Charles Bell abt 1842 Tedford Son Langton Lincolnshire Jane Bell abt 1848 Horncastle Daughter Langton Lincolnshire Joseph Bell abt 1814 Wilksby, Lincolnshire, England Head Langton Lincolnshire Joseph Bell abt 1840 Tedford Son Langton Lincolnshire >>>>Mary Bell abt 1806 Revesby Mother Langton Lincolnshire Richard Bell abt 1844 Tedford Son Langton Lincolnshire Thals Bell abt 1852 Tedford Son Langton Lincolnshire William Bell abt 1848 Tedford Son Langton Lincolnshire RG9/2368 Registration district: Horncastle Sub-registration district: Horncastle ED, institution, or vessel: 18 Folio: 70 Page: 10 (click to see others on page) Household schedule number: 55 GSU Number: 542960 Lib |

lol There's so many of them too! I wonder if Benjamin and Joseph are brothers as their birth places are the same! Mary is'nt old enough to be Joseph's mother, it looks like Mary could be his sister in law??? **************************************** Ive just been back and looked at Image again and Im not at all convinced that it reads 'mother' for Mary Bell, looks like un/insiter??? I have asked GR member's if they will have a look at the image too.......fingers crossed someone will be able to make out what it say's:)) *update* Ive recieved five opinions and all agree it says 'visitor' Lib |
