Thanks Roy William Fosset c 1790 Newington Surrey married Jeanette? c 1792 first child Ella christened in 1814 in Newington. Only possible clues I have as to Jeanettes maiden name are all sons had middle name of King and one daughter had middle name of Gardiner. Dawn |

I think Newington now comes under the borough of Southwark in London (about 30 boroughs in London). Try Southwark council website www(.)southwark(.)gov(.)uk - remove brackets. Southwark Local Studies Library 211 Borough High Street London SE1 1JA Tel: 020 8403 3507 Fax: 020 8403 8633 Email: |

British Origins has an entry in the Vicar General's Marriage Licence Allegations Index: 26 Sep 1810 FOSSETT KING No first names are given in the index. You can order a hard copy from British Origins for £10 but as far as I know you have to subscribe to them to be able to order. You can take out a 72-hour subscription for £7.50. Presumably there are other ways of looking at the Vicar General's Marriage Licence Allegations, but I don't know what they are. There is a CD-ROM of London Marriage Licences but I don't think it has very many from the 19th century. And of course we don't know for sure whether they got married in London! Kate. |

Kate Thanks for that. Seems too much of a coincidence with names Fossett King not to be connected in some way to my lot. Will go to British Origins and see what I can do. P.S He worked in admiralty so would think they got married in the area |
