Cannot find one in Bristol but i found a hard porn site!!! Abe Beer Location: Buckland Monachorum (Devon) - Who'd Have Thought It Inn Type: Haunting Manifestation Date / Time: Unknown Further Comments: The aptly named Abe, a former landlord at the pub, still returns to his bar. A Cavalier also haunts the premises, a sad look on his pale face.

Thanks Geoff and Jim, I have been told it was definitely Bristol. I also found that site Jim, interesting reading - the haunting one that is!!. Apparently it was a William Flower who ran the pub, and would have been the early 1800's

Trish, A brilliant site for pubs in 1881 is '1881 pubs' Just google it - it will be the top one. Having said that it has no Winchester pubs, but does have Bristol pubs. I didn't find a 'Who'd have thought it' in Bristol, but did find them in Wokingham, Sparsholt, Burton Upon Trent, Woolwich, and Portsea, and a 'Whoda thought it' in Heston. maggie

I was born in Bristol and lived there for most of my life and I have never heard of a pub by that name. Other half is a professional musician and he hasnt heard of it either. I have found the Glastonbury one, also one in Devizes Wiltshire. Any idea of what area of Bristol we are looking at?

Thanks Christine and Maggie. Carol, no idea - this info is very new to me. I know the family lived originally in Broad Plain but of course that's no clue to where the pub was. I've now given my daughter the task of searching for me (she lives in Bristol and I should think she's visited every pub going). Will get her to ask around, shame I had to promise to give her £10 if she found it :-))))
