Usually short for Dorothy, but my mother was Dolly all her life and her name was Barbara Mary - she was just very small - like a dolly. Kath. x

Dolly can be short for Dorothy or Dorothea - or Dora etc. But it can also be a name in its own right - I had a distant cousin registered as Dolly. Nell
