My grandpa, Samuel Paul Blake was born in Thorndon, Suffolk 1888, that much info I have , but he died in 1926/1927 and I am unable to find his death. He was known as Paul, so may be listed in that name. he died in Suffolk, not sure where. Thanks in anticipation. Ros

I've looked on 1837, Ancestry and LDS.

Ancestry take their info from Freebmd so they stop at about 1910. LDS don't have many deaths. However, he should be listed in 1837online. How certain are you about the year(s) of death and that he died in Suffolk? nell

hi Helen, he died when my Dad was 13 or 15, (1924, 1926) but Aunt told me 1927. Not sure he died in Suffolk, but I assumed he did, as he was sick after the 1914-1918 war and died as a result of being gassed in it.

Don't know if you already have this but there is a marriage for a Samuel Paul Blake in Dec 1908, Wayland district (Norfolk). Could he have married Mary Vanham ? (that's the only other name that's been transcribed from that page). Couldn't find a death in the years mentioned. Carolyn

I would widen your search - my grandmother told my mum that her mother (ie my great-grandmother) died when grannie was 7. When I started this family history lark I found she was 11 when her mother died. Memories aren't necessarily reliable. He may have died elsewhere too - my great grandfather lived 40 years in a Norfolk village and is buried there - but he died, and thus his death was registered in - North London! nell

I do enjoy this geneology thing. You are all so kind , (and I try to be when I can) Yes that's grandpa 1891 as Paul. Helen, I think you are probably right and that he died elsewhere. Is 1837 the best bet to find him? I could kick myself, that week before last, when I was in Suffolk, with my Aunt (his Daughter) that I didn't ask all the right questions.DOHHHHHH
