just googled vessel industrial school and thiscame up. Hope it helps INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL SHIP 'SOUTHAMPTON', 21 SCALE LANE, HULL, YORKSHIRE Certified 31st July 1868 for 250 boys. Cessation of certification of closure 28th March 1912 when the boys were mostly transferred to MOUNT EDGCUMBE. Vessel was launched in 1818, a 50 gun frigate of the same name. Also had an Auxiliary ship 'RIPPLE' which was certified 26th July 1878.

i have just found a relation on the 1871 census and he was about 15 years old and is at a place called vessels and it states under detention industrial schools act does eny one no enything about this place as im clueless many thanks sue
