I'd say Arthur, too, and this will be his birth reference to confirm:- Birth, Arthur Swift June qtr, 1888, Mile End, 1c, 539 Kath. x

Debbie I too would agree with the transcription of Arthur. If you look on the page at the way Scholar and Maker are finished, the 'R' has a flick upwards making it look similar to a 'D' as in your name. Victor

The reference is RG12/305, and its the penultimate entry under number 63, someone Swift, a 2 year old son.
