Have you tried the FamilyHistoryOnline site? I regularly pick up deaths, monument inscriptions and marriages on there... and the odd census stray.

Have you tried just googling combinations of names (in inverted commas so they're treated as a single item - and with surnames first or last) and places? You can sometimes pick up info you'd never have expected: I found a George Bennett ancestor recorded as a stray. Anyone who's ever looked up someone called George Bennett will know just what a miracle that was! - all by himself as a 'visitor' at 11 years old. If you're really lucky it throws up a whole website of family tree search by some remote cousin you didn't know about. good hunting! Christine

If they were born 1880s they might well live until the 1970s/80s. I think Ancestry has deaths after about 1980ish, but if its after 1910 and before 1980ish then its a question of trawling through the death indexes. If you find the wife's cert first and it says on it she was 'widow of...' then you will know that her husband died earlier! nell

Unfortunately, you may be in for a long hard slog through the GRO death indexes. Can't really think of any quick way of finding them. Sorry. Kate.

thanks nell i had a look on the bdm and the latest was 1909 with no signs of them died before then ill have a nose on 1901 census but thing is they didnt get married till 1910 lol

Look for their deaths were you think they will have died! If they died before 1910 they are probably on Freebmd. You could see if they are on the 1901 census - this will give you their rough ages. As deaths after 1870s include the age at death this will help to locate correct certificate. nell
